Bookpres introduces a new Weekly Inspiration series of blog posts sharing our favourites within the categories of business, culture, indie publishing and design.
I just got home after an amazing week in London. The purpose of the trip was to create new content for the blog, and I did some really exciting interviews with some very talented people within the world of self-publishing. So stay tuned on the blog, in June and July, if you want to know more about being an independent publisher and bookshop owner in the vibrant city of London.
Between interviews, I stopped by one of my favorite bookshops in Shoreditch, called Material. Last time I went to London I did an interview with Lucy, the owner, and besides having a lot of amazing publications, the bookshop also hosts a lot of events. So if in London this week, you should stop by Material and see the exhibition Wall of Wally.
Wally Olins, A Tribute
Sadly branding guru Wally Olins passed away in April 2014. He was a British practitioner of corporate identity and branding, and is said to have changed the face of the design industry. Designer Jamin Galea set up Wall of Wally to create an illustration directory as a tribute to the brand guru.
The project invites practising illustrators to illustrate the same exact portrait of Wally in their own preferred style, and it will be possible to purchase some of the works on display plus a limited edition book. All proceeds will go to Ella´s Home Run, a charity chosen by Wally Olin’s wife.
