I guess I have always been a writer although I was never published until 2010 with my first collection of short stories – Even When Tonight Is Over. My very first piece of work was a short story about growing up in Thatcherite Britain during the 1980s. It was called – We’re Not Going To The Opera – and re-reading it recently, I was amazed at how political it was. • Tony Riches – UK Historical Fiction Author

Hello to everyone on Bookpres! I started writing articles for a number of magazines and journals, then wrote my first non-fiction book, about how to manage projects. I was pleased when it became an Amazon bestseller, and the rest is history – literally, as I have always been fascinated by the fifteenth century and decided to specialize in literary, historical fiction. My interest in writing began as a child. I started out with writing a lot of short stories as well as creating small magazines that I would share with friends and family. I never thought that I would eventually self-publish a book, rather, I wrote simply for the enjoyment. As I grew older, writing became more of a way to release the feelings I had. In my late teens and early twenties, I began to develop an interest in poetry, as well as hip hop music.
